Overview

Xan Ling Segambut is a humble Chinese restaurant tucked away in the heart of Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. Its unpretentious setting belies the rich flavors and comforting dishes that await inside. Located at Lrg Arfah 3, this spot has quietly become a favorite among locals craving authentic home-style Chinese cuisine, blending nostalgic taste with freshness.

The restaurant excels in traditional mainstays such as the Gravy Chicken Feet and Stewed Pork, each dish boasting a depth of flavor that speaks to slow cooking and patience. Particularly notable is their claypot porridge cooked with pork spare ribs and dried oysters, a standout that demands advance ordering due to its meticulous preparation time. Its rich, silky texture offers a perfect balance of savory and umami notes, making it a must-try for first-timers.

Other highlights include the Fried Meat Balls, praised for their juicy interior and the subtle texture provided by mengkuang (jicama), and stir-fried Sweet Potato Leaves that add a fresh, vibrant touch to the meal. These vegetable dishes harmonize well with the savory meat options, reflecting the thoughtful balance typical of traditional Chinese meals.

Xan Ling’s dining space combines an air-conditioned room with an outdoor seating area, ensuring a welcoming environment regardless of weather. The atmosphere is straightforward yet clean, focusing attention on the food rather than frills. This makes it particularly appealing to diners who value substance over style—families, groups of friends, and anyone seeking comfort food with genuine flavors.

The service is warm and attentive, with the lady boss often making personalized recommendations based on guests’ preferences, enhancing the overall experience. Prices remain reasonable, aligning with the restaurant’s no-fuss, honest approach. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeout or settling in for a relaxed meal, Xan Ling Segambut offers satisfaction through quality ingredients and well-executed recipes deeply rooted in tradition.

Unassuming place in a simple setup, but they served up a delicious meal at an affordable price. No wonder the number of people at the restaurant! The porridge was cooked with pork ribs and dried oysters. It was simply mouth-watering. Fried meatballs were also so tasty!

Claypot pork porridge with pork spare ribs must try, advisable to preorder before go as it needs 45min preparation time. Fried meat ball, juicy and I love the mengkuang in it. Personally feel it is good to go with the porridge. Ordered stir fried sweet potato leaves also, nice. Will go back again to try other dishes! There is air-conditioning area and open air area, good ventilation.

*a humble dining experience at an obscure area* A scrumptious meal with a familiar taste, simple yet fulfilling. The hong bak paired well with the kuih, pork ribs porridge paired with dried oysters and scallops was fantastic, bak kut teh was lightly flavoured.

An obscure restaurant located in an industrial area, it started off selling Bak Kut Teh but is now famous (for those in the know) for pork ribs porridge. The porridge is cooked to order so it’s best to call in advance about 45 minutes before you go. A standard portion is good for 5 to 6 persons. Generous portions of pork ribs are cooked in a rice porridge with dried scallops to enhance the flavours. This is Highly Recommended. Their Bak kut teh is decent but not outstanding. Recommended are their Pork Meat Balls; Braised Chicken Feet and Omelette with Sweet Preserved Vegetable. The Braised Pork in thick sweet sauce pairs very nicely with Rice Cakes. The fried mackerel fish is fresh and tasty, especially when eaten hot.
